Spring into Happiness

While the last few winters have been fairly mild in my part of the world, I’m glad that spring is finally in the air. Even though autumn and spring are extremely short-lived in this country – if you notice them at all – there’s an unmistakable sense of positive je ne sais quoi in the air now.

After a drab and dreary winter, the change of season brings a fresh feeling of renewed life and happiness that’s energising.

In a few short weeks, we have all but forgotten our winter wears and woes. And, having previously expressed my opinion about winter in my post entitled ‘Winter is Here’, I am only too happy to shed those extra layers as things are rapidly starting to heat up. Hello skirts! Hello T-shirts! Hello bare feet and slip-slops! I missed you!

It’s suddenly easier to wake up in the mornings, there’s a sense of determination to tackle new projects and the extra daylight makes it seem as though there are more hours in the day.

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks spring cleaning and gardening – and I have to say that it feels really good to see everything looking so spick and span. This is the first year when I’ve actually planted my flowers and vegetables on time and I can’t wait to see them blossom and grow. There’s something so therapeutic about gardening and the rewards are very satisfying. So, here’s holding thumbs that my not-so-green fingers will have some success this year, as I can’t wait to see the fruits of my labour.

However, I’m not the only one who has been busy. Suddenly nature’s kingdom is out and about, as they re-emerge from their winter retreats. The birds are chirping again, the lizards are scurrying around, the bees are buzzing and the plants are budding. It’s a treat to behold a kaleidoscope of colour as nature bursts forth with bountiful treasures.

With so much life and activity currently abounding, it’s not surprising most people have a spring in their step. Mind you, just watch where you step, because we’re clearly not the only ones who have emerged from the winter feeling as though it’s time to get up and grow!

Now is the time to embrace life again. Remember that “every flower must grow through dirt”. So, not matter what events and challenges you’ve faced in your life, you too can emerge victorious to reach your full, glorious potential.

As this quote so aptly puts it:

“Stop watering the weeds in your life and start watering the flowers.”

Then life will be as amazing as spring.

So, kick off your shoes, take a deep breath of fresh air, bask in the sun, delight in nature’s gifts and spring into happiness, as a new season unfolds.
